- SJVS is an award-winning program of choice (all students must apply and be accepted into our full-time program) for students that reside in St. Johns County. Each of our teachers are experienced and highly effective instructors with years of experience in the virtual arena.

- We are a public school with the St. Johns County School district. All of our teachers are local, providing multiple opportunities for face-to-face meetings with teachers and other virtual students.
- SJVS serves students from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
- SJVS serves part-time, full-time and home education students that reside in St. Johns County, Florida.
A successful online learner is a self-motivated individual that is committed to their education. There is a high degree of accountability and responsibility that is placed upon the student and family.
- SJVS is a franchise of FLVS. As such, we use the same curriculum and online platform that FLVS uses. However SJVS provides a personalized learning experience, with courses taught by local St. Johns County School District teachers.
- The courses and the requirements are the same. The difference is that SJVS combines online learning with weekly live lessons and monthly in-person events for full-time students. If students need in-person instruction or counseling, local teachers and counselors are available to provide support on campus or one-on-one zoom sessions.
- When students take courses through SJVS, state funding (FTE) remains in St. Johns County.
Yes, St. Johns Virtual School is fully accredited through Cognia.
Yes, students that are enrolled in our full-time virtual program (applied and accepted to SJVS, not home education) are eligible to receive their high school diploma upon meeting all graduation requirements.
*Note: students that are enrolled in Home Education will not be eligible for a high school diploma.
Yes, SJVS is one of the public schools in St. Johns County School District and follows the same school year calendar.
Since SJVS is a public school, enrollment is free.
- No, all students taking virtual courses are expected to provide their own technology.
- To maintain contact with teachers, staff, and administration, students must have daily access to the following:
- Computer with webcam and microphone. Please note that Chromebooks are not able to be used due to technical limitations and incompatibility with progress monitoring platforms.
- Internet service
- Telephone
- Since the program is heavily asynchronous (working individually), students have an opportunity to create a schedule that best meets their needs and allows them to complete at the minimum 7% of coursework each week in each class.
- SJVS does offer live lessons for all core subject classes each week. These live lessons tend to fall between 8:00am – 3:30pm Monday – Thursday. Please refer to our Live Lesson Schedule for more information: Click Here)
- Yes, students will interact in virtual zoom sessions with teachers and groups.
- We also require all full-time students to attend all in-person testing.
- Each month, all full-time students will have the opportunity to come to campus for in-person enrichment days with peers and staff.
SJVS will utilize School Messenger, Parent Square (starting Fall 2025), Sign-up Genius, and our website to post all information.
Students are able to take all regular and honors core classes as well as a variety of electives.
- Advanced versions of middle school core classes are available for interested students. At registration, you will be able to select this option. Middle school students may also enroll in high school credit courses, with approval from a school counselor. Elementary students may request assignment to middle school level coursework with approval from administration.
- High school courses can be taken for honors credit. During the registration process, you will be able to select the regular or honors version of the desired course, if it is available.
SJVS full-time students are eligible (upon principal discretion) to participate in interscholastic and non-class related activities at their home-zoned school. It is the family’s responsibility to contact the home-zoned school principal for approval.
- SJVS strives to support families in St. Johns County, whether in a part-time nature (only needing one or so courses) or full-time (enrolled completely with SJVS).
- SJVS also accepts enrollments with students that are enrolled in Home Education (not receiving state scholarship).
SJVS students may take one or two classes at a traditional school (upon the home-zoned school principal’s approval), as long as their families make the commitment to provide consistent transportation. For safety reasons, students cannot stay at school unattended once the class has ended or arrive on campus before the class starts.
Students will be asked to make a commitment to stay enrolled with SJVS for a complete semester. If a student wishes to transfer to a traditional school at the end of a semester, that is possible. *Please note, if a student does not complete the entire semester, grades will not transfer. A student must complete the entirety of the semester.
- Students with disabilities are required to meet the state and school admission criteria in order to be accepted into St. Johns Virtual School full time, just as their non-disabled peers.
- Current Individual Educational Plans (IEP) of student applicants who meet the St. Johns Virtual School full time entrance criteria will be reviewed on an individual basis in order to determine the appropriateness of the full-time virtual education option.

Yes, students are able to select SJVS for their virtual choice with a preferred start date of anytime between August and March 1. So, if a student is ready to enroll say September 1, they can go on and request the course(s) through SJVS.
- Each year, SJVS opens applications for enrollment in April (for Fall start) and November (for Spring start) each year.

- Students enrolled in the full-time SJVS program are required to attend all statewide testing. All testing can be found here on our website (Click Here).
- Students that miss any testing session will be withdrawn from the full-time program at the end of the semester.
